Passport photo size requirements by country

There's no single global standard for ID photo dimensions — each country's passport or visa authority sets its own size and head-height requirements, and a photo sized for one won't necessarily pass for another.

Full citations for each of these — which government or treaty source they come from, and when each was last confirmed — are on the Data Sources page. One of them (Japan) currently has conflicting sources and is flagged as unverified; check with the specific consulate before relying on it.

Why auto-crop can still need a manual nudge

This tool's face detection estimates head position from facial landmarks, then applies a fixed multiplier to approximate true crown-to-chin head height — a reasonable starting point, not a measured guarantee for every face shape or photo angle. That's why the crop box is adjustable (drag to reposition, zoom to resize) after auto-detection, rather than locked to whatever the detector first proposes.
