Visa & Passport Photo Resizer
Upload a photo, pick the document type, and this auto-detects your face to crop and resize to spec — no account, nothing uploaded to a server.
Why this matters
Passport and visa photos get rejected for surprisingly picky reasons — head size a few millimeters outside the allowed range, wrong aspect ratio, wrong background. Getting it right by eye in a generic photo editor is fiddly. This detects your face automatically, sizes the crop to the specific document's requirements, and gives you both a single photo and a print-ready sheet, without ever sending the photo anywhere.
Nothing is uploaded. Face detection, cropping, and PDF/ image export all run in your browser. The only network requests this page makes are for the face-detection model files themselves (a few MB, fetched once from Google/jsdelivr's CDN) — your photo is never sent anywhere. Spec numbers are widely published but not guaranteed current — verify against the official source before an application. See src/lib/photo-specs.ts.
Drag the photo to reposition it within the frame.
How to use it
- Pick the document type — the crop's shape and target head size come from that choice.
- Upload a well-lit, front-facing photo. Face detection runs automatically.
- Check the auto-aligned crop; drag to reposition or use the zoom slider if it isn't quite right.
- Generate the photo and 4x6 print sheet, then download both.
Example scenarios
- Someone renewing a US passport picks "US Passport / Visa," uploads a recent phone photo, and gets a correctly-sized 2x2in photo plus a 4x6 sheet with multiple copies to print at a local pharmacy kiosk.
- Someone applying for a UK passport switches the document type to "UK Passport" and the crop shape and head-size target update immediately, without needing to re-upload the photo.

Frequently asked questions
Is my photo uploaded to a server?
No. Face detection, cropping, and image export all run in your browser. The only network requests are for the face-detection model files (a fixed download, unrelated to your photo) from Google's and jsdelivr's CDNs — your actual photo never leaves your device.
The auto-crop looks off — can I fix it manually?
Yes. Auto-detection sets a starting position, but it isn't assumed perfect — drag the photo to reposition it and use the zoom slider to resize the crop, then regenerate.
What if it can't detect a face?
You'll get a status message saying no face was detected, and a centered default crop you can position manually with drag and zoom.
Are these photo specs guaranteed accurate?
They're based on published requirements from each country's own passport/visa authority, but rules change and vary by exact document type and consulate. Check the source note shown under the document type selector — one entry (Japan) is explicitly flagged as unverified due to conflicting sources. Always confirm against the official current requirement before an application.
What's the 4x6 sheet for?
Many photo print services only print standard 4x6in prints. The sheet tiles as many copies of your ID photo as fit on that size, so you can get physical prints from a normal photo kiosk instead of a specialty passport-photo service.
